A Little Brand Magic

Let’s talk colour—and not just any colour, your colour.

Why Your Brand Should Wear Its Colours Well (But Not Too Loudly)

A 2025 take on brand styling at events, with wins, lessons, and a whole lot of orange.

Brand colours are one of the quickest ways to signal who you are without saying a word. When someone walks into a space and feels instantly immersed in your vibe, mission accomplished. But here’s the thing—just because your logo is orange doesn’t mean the whole room needs to look like a traffic cone.

We’ve been styling events for years, and if 2025 has shown us anything already, it’s this: subtlety is the new sophistication. Especially when it comes to branded events in Brisbane, where personality, purpose, and polish all need to coexist.

So, where should a brand colour show up?

The magic is in the moments. Tabletop details, floral pops, lighting washes, bar fronts, and signage—these are the places your brand colours can shine without screaming. You can work colour in as part of a story, not just a box to tick. It’s not about putting your logo everywhere—it’s about creating a feeling that says, this is unmistakably you.

Take our recent event with Bankwest at GOMA, for example. Their signature orange was the star, but we didn’t flood the space in it. Instead, we introduced it through custom tabletop decals, hints in the florals, and subtle nods in styling elements. Then, we pulled in a fresh olive tone to balance and elevate the palette, paired it with clean white furniture, and let the details do the talking.

And the result? A brand story that felt thoughtful, current, and unmistakably Bankwest. If you’d like to see how this event came together, head to our socials this week.

Venue choice is part of your brand too

Sometimes, styling for branded events starts before the first piece of furniture is even selected. It starts with the venue.

We often choose spaces that reflect not just the brand’s colour palette but its vibe. A gritty industrial brand might feel right at home in a warehouse venue, where exposed brick and raw textures amplify the message. But would that same brand feel as authentic in a sleek restaurant? Sometimes yes—but quite often, no.

We always ask: how does this space make you feel? Does that emotion align with your brand’s values? And practicalities still matter—will it suit your guest numbers? Is it accessible? Will it photograph well? These are the real-world factors that shape the success of a branded event.

So the right venue becomes part of your styling toolkit. It’s another layer that helps us create something immersive, believable, and brand-aligned.

More brand wins: Aperol & TEQ

Two of our other favourites? Aperol (another orange brand!) and Tourism & Events Queensland (TEQ).

Aperol is all about that vibrant orange pop, and we’ve had a ball bringing that to life in their activations—especially at the River Bar & Kitchen in the city this year. Their brand energy is bold, sunny, and social—perfect for outdoor settings, festival-style builds, and bar activations where the colour becomes part of the experience.

With TEQ, it’s all about capturing Queensland’s laid-back luxury. Think natural textures, earthy tones, and lots of open space. We’ve brought their brand to life across various events by carefully curating furniture to suit the brand—clean lines, fresh tones, and organic materials that feel both stylish and unmistakably local.

When it’s too much: Brand fails and the power of restraint

We’ve all been to that event where it feels like you walked into a showroom—every chair cover branded, every napkin monogrammed, every colour block matching the logo down to the Pantone. It’s… a lot.

That’s when branding starts to overwhelm. The guest experience becomes more about the logo and less about the feeling. And as a guest, you want to feel something—welcomed, wowed, intrigued—not like you’re at a press conference.

How to nail the balance

Here are our go-to tips when styling for branded events:

  • Pick a hero moment â€“ Maybe it’s the bar, the stage backdrop, or the entry point. Focus your colour energy there and let the rest breathe.
  • Use complementary tones â€“ Don’t just stick with your primary brand colour. Find shades that support and soften it, so the palette feels layered and luxe.
  • Let materials do the talking â€“ Texture is powerful. Wood, velvet, glass, stone—they can express your brand mood without a logo in sight.
  • Think about the photos â€“ Your event will live on in social media and press shots. Make sure your branding doesn’t dominate every frame.

Final word? Branding is a feeling.

When guests walk into a space and feel like they’ve stepped into you—your world, your vibe, your values—that’s good brand styling.

Whether it’s an awards night, a corporate dinner, or a launch event, subtle storytelling is best.  Let your personality shine. So, lean into your colours, but don’t let them take over the room. Choose furniture that reflects your essence. Select venues that feel like your brand lives there. And always, always keep the guest experience at the centre of it all.
