Perfect Pairings: What Cheese and Wine Can Teach Us About Event Styling in Brisbane

We’ve always said that great event styling is about finding the perfect pairing—not just in flavours, but in feeling. Moreover, there’s no better place to explore that than Mould: the cheese festival and Pinot Palooza with wine, two events that perfectly complement one another on the Brisbane calendar.

We’ve always said that great event styling is about finding the perfect pairing—not just in flavours, but in feeling. Moreover, there’s no better place to explore that than Mould: the cheese festival and Pinot Palooza with wine, two events that perfectly complement one another on the Brisbane calendar.

Held at John Reid Pavilion in Brisbane Showgrounds, Mould (April 12–14) and Pinot Palooza (April 20) bring together passionate producers and adventurous palettes. One celebrates Australia’s best artisan cheeses; meanwhile, the other showcases our favourite drops of Pinot Noir from around the world. Consequently, like cheese and wine themselves, they’re different in flavour and character, but together, they tell a story—of place, passion, and personality.

As a result, just like a cheese and wine pairing, we believe the most powerful event experiences come from combining thoughtful elements: furniture, colour, styling, mood, and even texture. Indeed, that’s the art of event furniture hire done right.

Why Pairings Matter in Event Styling

When you bring together the right elements—whether it’s a crisp Pinot from the Yarra Valley and a creamy blue from Tasmania, or alternatively, a cane lounge and a velvet armchair—you’re creating contrast, harmony, and a little bit of magic.

That’s exactly what we aim for when we design spaces at events like these. From tables and chairs to feature pieces, florals, and lighting, we ask ourselves: what complements, what elevates, and furthermore, what brings warmth and personality to the space?

Therefore, we decided to turn to our stylists and ask: What are your perfect pairings from the Brandition range? Here’s what they said.

Our Stylists’ Perfect Event Furniture Pairings

Nicola: calm and grounded

For Nicola, creating a calm and grounded outdoor space is all about texture and tone. Her dream palette? Olive green, white and cream, layered with natural timber and just a touch of gold for a little magic.

“Outdoor lounges with layered rugs, soft pillows, and loads of greenery—that’s my happy place,” she says.

Chelsea:  A Monotone Moment

She says, “There’s something so beautiful about creating depth and interest with a monotone colour palette.” Our wide range of furniture for hire at Brandition allows us so much versatility with this trend. Chelsea’s pick?

“I love seeing our Oak Furniture – like our Oak Cross Back Chairs and Oak Feasting Tables – paired together for that effortlessly clean, modern base. From there, the options for styling creativity are endless.”

Siena: Olive Green & Dusty Pink

Siena loves colour. Her favourite combination right now? Olive green and dusty pink. She imagines a long country-style dining table set with square candles and light pink flowers, styled with soft linens and our dining chairs.

“It’s soft, romantic, and timeless,” she says. “I picture this on a veranda or under a tree. Above all, it’s a pairing that feels both grounded and uplifting.”

Belinda: unstated champions

Belinda champions the understated pieces—the ones that ground a space without taking over. Her pick is our small rectangular timber coffee table, on clean white 40cm legs, paired with Moroccan footstools for relaxed, lounge-style gatherings.

“It’s comfortable, intimate, and incredibly versatile,” she says. “In particular, this combination works beautifully for low-key wine tastings, casual catch-ups, or networking corners at larger events.”

Taylor: Cane Meets Velvet

Taylor is all about the modern bohemian. Her go-to move? Mixing old-charm with contemporary flair. Initially, she loves pairing our natural cane lounge with a bold statement like the green velvet armchair.

“You don’t have to stick to one style,” she says. “On the contrary, layering rustic and modern creates a space that feels rich and lived-in, like it has a story to tell.”

Daniella: Dinner Party Goals

For Daniella, nothing beats a beautifully styled dinner setting. Her ideal look? Dark bentwood chairs, light timber tables, and subsequently, an elegant tabletop featuring florals, candles, and fabric napkins in rich colours—burgundy or forest green.

“Then just add good food, good wine, and your favourite people,” she says. “It’s elevated without being stuffy. In essence, that’s what makes a space feel real.”

Final Thoughts: Pair with Purpose for Brisbane Event Styling

In the end, great events aren’t built on quantity—they’re built on quality combinations. When you pair the right furniture and styling with thoughtful food and beverage choices, everything feels intentional. Everything feels curated. In other words, everything feels… right.

So here’s to perfect pairings—whether it’s cheese and Pinot, velvet and timber, or fundamentally, people and experiences. Events are about connection, and accordingly, when all the elements are thoughtfully paired, your guests feel it.

Let’s keep experimenting, curating, and creating spaces that spark joy, conversation, and memories.

Cheers to that!
