Queensland’s Spring Festivals: Flowers, Festivals and Event Styling

Queensland in spring is a feast for the senses. After the cooler winter months, our sunny state bursts into colour with festivals that celebrate flowers, racing, music and community. And we love nothing more than taking event styling outdoors – with flowers front and centre.

This month on our socials we’re sharing all things spring, showing how our lounges, seating and styling pieces fit right in with the festival’s floral magic, creating inviting spots for demos, bars and gatherings. Follow us at @Brandition

Wattle Day and Spring Blooms

This week also coincides with Wattle Day (which was Monday, 1 September), Australia’s occasion to celebrate our national flower. It’s a perfect reminder of how flowers anchor so many of our spring events. Wattle Day celebrates resilience and renewal, themes that pair well with Queensland’s festival season.

With Wattle Day prompting us to think of Australia’s floral identity, spring is the perfect time to choose blooms that speak to event themes. Native wattles, seasonal blooms, local floral varieties, garden classics, each adds character.

And we love to mix structured installations (arches, floral walls) with softer touches: small table posies, greenery garlands, styled signage.

Which brings us to the next big question: what else does spring bring in our state, and which blooms might you choose to style your next event?

Spring Festivals in Queensland Worth Styling

One of our favourite events every year is the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. Running since 1950, it’s Australia’s longest‑running floral festival and a true spring getaway. We first got involved back in 2015, and have loved bringing our furniture and styling to the mix. From comfy lounge areas and VJ tasting stations to floral installs and relaxed setups that let the blooms shine, it’s always such a fun project with an amazing festival team. The carnival crew sum it up perfectly as “a living, breathing celebration of spring – flowers, food and fun” (tcof.com.au).

Brisbane Festival runs most of September across the city, combining arts, music, light installations and public spectacles. This year’s program transforms Brisbane into an outdoor gallery, featuring inflatable artworks, drone shows, theatre and public projection displays, all offering fantastic opportunities for event styling, especially using floral and greenery installations in public event zones brisbanefestival.com.au.

Ladbrokes Spring Racing Carnival, hosted by Brisbane Racing Club at Eagle Farm and Doomben, spans October. It brings together a combination of style, racing, hospitality and entertainment.  And our favourite; fashion events, pop‑up bars and trackside dining packages. Flowers, lush décor, and themed seating installations fit naturally into this setting.  brc.com.au.

Further afield, regional festivals like the Stanthorpe Apple & Grape Harvest Festival celebrate local produce in early spring. The festival features food, grape‑crushing competitions, music, fireworks and parades.

Final Thoughts

Spring in Queensland is festival season. From the iconic Carnival of Flowers to arts and music in Brisbane and regional produce festivals, these events celebrate growth, renewal and community. For us, styling those events is all about bringing people close to nature, using flowers, well‑chosen furniture and thoughtful décor to create environments that feel inviting and worth remembering.
